Patek Philippe MONOPUSHER CHRONOGRAPH 5470P-001
GREATER ACCURACYThe manufacture unveils its first bi-compax-positioned chronograph capable of measuring short-cycle time to a tenth of a second thanks to a caliber boasting a host of patents.Twelve seconds. That's the time the Silinvar?-crafted direct-drive takes to make a full revolution of the dial. The choice of this material is not without significance however. Amongst other qualities, this silicon derivative is ever-so light and anti-magnetic. What's more, it's been designed with geometric shapes center staging excellent aerodynamics. On the new Patek Philippe 1/10th Second Monopusher Chronograph 5470P-001, the movements of the 1/10th second hand flow along incredibly smoothly when the 2 o'clock-set pusher is triggered. On the indigo blue-like dial, measured time intervals are read with this red lacquered pointer, via another central hand for the seconds and the 30-minute counter placed at 3 o'clock. And, time data reading is optimal, just like with all the manufacture's references. It's enhanced by the hour chapter comprising elegant Arabic numerals and a highly-accurate minute tracker. A small seconds at 9 o'clock perfectly balances the pared-down scenescape. The 41 mm-diameter platinum case hosts the CH 29-535 PS 1/10 caliber. This hand-wound movement is an upgrade of the one revealed in 2009. A system for 1/10th second timekeeping has been added. Its frequency has also increased from 4 to 5 Hz, i.e. 36,000 vibrations an hour ensuring accurate time measurement. Seven patent applications were filed to finalize it. The sapphire-crystal caseback offers a stunning view over the workings in action, set off with traditional finishes. The watch's sporty look also highlights the elegance of the components in motion.
